Chris Black has almost 25 years experience in researching, writing and analysing social policy. She has worked as a political adviser at both Federal and State level, and brings an excellent understanding of contemporary policy development and budget processes of government.
Chris has also worked extensively with peak bodies and both large and small not-for-profit organisations in the community sector to develop new programs, undertake qualitative and quantitative evaluations, communicate and consult with stakeholders, and provide research evidence for policy submissions. Her work for 89 Degrees East includes policy development and analysis, and managing numerous communication campaigns and projects.
In 2011 Chris completed a Masters of Social Policy at the University of Melbourne and in 2018 is undertaking the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) director’s course. Chris has served as a non-Executive Director of Yarra Community Housing, a social housing provider with nearly 2,000 tenants across Victoria and is currently a Board member for the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation and the Elizabeth Reid Network.
Her passions outside of work include cycling, upcycling crafts, attending festivals of all kinds and participating in local community campaigns - there’s never a shortage of ways to get involved in community causes!
