Mitchell is a strategic collaborator who often works with 89 Degrees East, in addition to running Mitchell Shepherd Communications. After starting out scribbling surf articles for magazines and global surfwear brands, he moved into psychological research and teaching undergrads.
His various other professional hats have included journalism, market research, data analysis, communications, editing and public policy. He’s worked with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), Department of Defence and Griffith University.
Mitchell admires the AFL for its focus on broader social issues, such as taking a side in the marriage equality debate, supporting charities, and implementing both indigenous and pride rounds.
When he’s not writing for 89 Degrees East clients, Mitchell is often surfing, swimming or doing stuff outdoors. He’s a big reader and fiction writer, and often has vivid dreams about seeing his award-winning novels on bookshelves around the world.
