The COVID-19 pandemic has certainly not been without its challenges…toilet paper shortages, working-from-home, increased screen time, home schooling and social awkwardness became a way of life.
In the midst of all this and as we approach the holiday season, we took time to reflect on some of our highlights across the year that was.
The pandemic of the century
89 Degrees has survived and thrived.
Two COVID jabs
We’re Ready, Set, Vaxxed. Our research on Australians’ return to the office showed that hybrid work is here to stay, and that being proactive with COVID-safety, ensuring workforce wellbeing and planning effective internal communications will attract and retain an engaged and productive workforce.
Three Tim Tams
We supported Arnott’s with an internal communications review and implementation. We helped to deliver a weekly newsletter, a first of its kind sustainability report, COVID support comms for a remote workforce and various employee engagement resources.
Four million decals
We’ve worked closely with Diageo to support the hospitality sector recovery through their Raising the Bar fund. The initiative has provided venues across the country with everything they need to be COVID-safe – from thermometers, to PPE, hand sanitiser and floor decals. We sang along with a special Diageo COVID-safe Pub Choir tour of regional Queensland bringing together communities doing it tough.
Five states a-signing
The Building Better Homes Campaign successfully achieved the inclusion of minimum accessibility standards in the National Construction Code – with five states adopting the new provisions.
Six pods a-casting
Our very own Fleur Andreson hosted DTA’s Digital Profession Insight series podcasts exploring the capabilities, tools and approaches needed for Government professionals and agencies to be Digital Ready. We also helped Drinkwise produce their new top rating Bounceback podcast episode with Dr Gordon Parker.
Seven summits assembling
We gathered together some of the brightest minds in the tech industry to inspire young Australian women
through 7 purpose designed Accelerator for Enterprising Women entrepreneurial summits across the country.
Eight new consultants
The 89 Degrees East team continues to grow and thrive. With 8 new senior consultants joining the team this year. We are now closer to you – wherever your need is across Australia.
Nine ladies Zooming
Through our online forum expertise we helped facilitate virtual forums for multiple clients on multiple topics. Real-time feedback showed stakeholders found our engagement meaningful and authentic.
Ten thousand business girls
Through our work delivering the Academy for Enterprising Girls this program is on track to educate and inspire over 10,000 entrepreneurial girls by early 2022.
Eleven office dogs
Our office dogs (and one cat) are the unsung heroes of the 89 Degrees East team. In our home offices, under dining tables NEVER EVER barking during online meetings 😉, our furred colleagues loved us and kept us sane.
Twelve wonderful years
Celebrating the 12th anniversary of 89 Degrees East! We are so grateful and lucky to have had many wonderful clients and amazing projects to work on over the last 12 years. Merry Christmas to you all, onwards and upwards in 2022!
