Holly McCarthy

Senior Research Advisor

Melbourne

Holly McCarthy is a social researcher and strategic communications consultant passionate about harnessing the power of language to build a better world.

In her work on policy and behaviour change campaigns, Holly aims to unpack the values and beliefs that explain where people are at and identify the words, frames, and stories that move them.

Holly works on a range of social issues with government, union and non-profit clients seeking to energise their Supporter base and connect with the Persuadable centre. She is particularly proud to have collaborated on projects focussed on climate action, gender equality, public education, health equity, and First Nations justice and self-determination.

Holly holds an MA in Ethnic and Migration Studies from Linköping University, Sweden and combines framing and discourse theory with the practical experience she gained working first in Australia’s refugee sector, and later as an independent researcher and communications consultant collaborating closely with Qdos Research, Dr Rebecca Huntley, Common Cause Australia, and the University of New South Wales.

Holly is a member of The Research Society.
