Kimberley Gardiner

Senior Consultant

Melbourne

After completing her Arts degree in Political Science at the University of Wollongong, Kimberley moved to Canberra to kick start her career with a role in the Office of a Senator for the Northern Territory, becoming Press Secretary to the first female Deputy Prime Minister of Australia, Julia Gillard MP following the 2007 election.

A stint in Queensland followed, as Director of Communications for the Queensland Premier, Anna Bligh until Melbourne beckoned, or more specifically the St Kilda Football Club, where Kimberley was appointed General Manager Communications. The call of politics is strong however, and after a brief volunteer assignment in Guatemala, Kimberley became Media Director for the Leader of the Federal Opposition, Bill Shorten MP.

In 2017-18, Kimberley was deployed by Australian Volunteers International to mentor young women at the Union Election Commission in Myanmar. Kimberley joined Save the Children Australia’s Department of Policy and Advocacy as Head of Campaigns and Public Affairs in June 2018.

Following a deployment to Ukraine in 2022 with the international aid organisation, Kimberley made the happy move to 89 Degrees East.
