Parliament House was full of energy and bright ideas with the launch of the Academy for Enterprising Girls in December 2019.
Girls aged 10-18 from local schools met the Prime Minister Scott Morrison, the Minister for Women Marise Payne, Treasurer Josh Frydenberg, Small Business Ombudsman Kate Carnell and business leaders.
The previous day the girls had participated in the first of the national Academy for Enterprising Girls workshops run by education partners and at Parliament House they presented their start-up ideas to an expert panel in the Pitchfest.
89 Degrees East is the delivery partner for the Academy of Enterprising Girls through national workshops and elearning modules to encourage girls to study STEM subjects and learn entrepreneurial skills. The Academy is an initiative of COSBOA and funded by the Future Female Entrepreneurs’ Program from the Department of the Prime Minister & Cabinet’s Office for Women.
